Twilight Markets produced a series of 9 themed community concerts in partnership with the City of North Vancouver.
The Concerts – “Saturday Summer Sessions” were billed as a Music and Art Festival. Free concerts to the public with local artists placed adjacent to the venue, a small beer garden and plenty of room to dance.

 

2014 Summer Sessions Summary

 

Week 1

Celtic Theme – July 5th

The Theme was “ Celtic” – both the Irish dancers and the Celtic Ensemble brought many friends and relatives out to the venue who stayed to enjoy the headliner “Kilarney”.

Week 2

Beach Theme – July 12th

Starting with a Polynesian Dancer, winner of the North American championships – continuing with the “Surfrajets”, an acoustic Beach Boy Style music and finishing with “Mostly Marley” as our main headliner – A high energy event with a Caribbean Beach Groove.

Week 3

Country and Western Rockabilly – July 19th

“5 Star Motel” was our opener and “Horse Opera” the headliner for the evening.

Week 4

Brazilian – Rhythm Rock – July 26th

This concert featured the “Boom Booms” a really high energy band. The North Shore Zumba Crew gave dance lessons prior with a very upbeat performance that got everyone moving before the band started. A very diverse crowd of people showed up that ended in a night of dancing.

Week 5

Blue Grass Music – August 2nd

This concert was a total winner! Featuring “The High Bar Gang” with Barney Bentall, Colin Nairne, Wendy Bird and Shari Ulrich. Special guest appearance Dustin Bentall and opener was Tom Taylor singer/songwriter lead for the group “She Stole My Beer”.

Week 6

Rhythm and Blues – August 9th

Featured artist was Henri Brown of” H.B. Wild.” Henri is a well-respected guitarist and singer with a large following. The band features several female vocalists, horn, drums and several guitarists.

Week 7

Latino/ Cuban Theme – August 16th

Featured were “Alma Chevere” who performed a wide variety of Salsa/Sambas and easy listening/dancing music. Once again we had the North Shore Zumba crew to get people started. The opener was a young developing band called “Caracas” that mixed both the traditional and the new.

Week 8

Tribute Bands Theme – August 23rd

Featured Band was Tina Turner Tribute with Luisa Marshall – this show and concert was one of Twilight Events favourites. The opener was a mix of the Luisa Marshall musicians coupled with musicians from HB Wild and Powder Blues.

Week 9

Party Theme – August 30th

The last concert featured “March Hare”. This concert got a good crowd and as the last concert of the season attracted a large amount of locals who finished off enjoying dancing the night away.
